This was a wonderfully creative and beautifully illustrated book. I loved the emphasis that it places on the value and beauty of all lives. Illustrating that life is precious even when faced with obstacles and disadvantages. I loved sharing it with my children and can’t wait to share it with the grandkids. Thank you so much to the authors, editors, illustrators and publishers for this beautiful story.

Little Bird with One Wing is an extremely well done and moving story about the beauty and sacredness of all life, as well as the ugly side of humanity. With the amazing graphics of Peter O’Clock, we can take a deep dive into these issues.

Love, nurture and acceptance among others, are basic needs for us all, even if we don’t “fit in.” The little bird with one wing…had the same aspirations and feelings as the others in the community. But, she only had one wing! Objections, confusion and concerns of her parents caused great pain. Little Bird would never be able to fly, so the leaders of the community stepped in. Little Bird was deemed unworthy to be a part of the community. A financial drain. Unworthy of love. Unworthy of being a part. An embarrassment…She was unwanted…in the womb of the tree…Are we any different? Do we accept unrighteous judgment? Or do we demand something better from the leaders of our community?

Little Bird With One Wing. A compelling story.

Little Bird with One Wing is a wonderfully illustrated fantasy, but don’t let the colorful pictures and cute imagery fool you. This one is full of emotion and if you have a beating heart it will feel this story. This one stings a little, and I believe that is what was intended. The artist truly captured the deeply felt ideals of the poet, drawing the reader in so that the concepts stick with you long after you’re done reading.

Enjoyed the book. It should be required reading for high schoolers.
